    Check for Tearing?

    I've been optimizing my game to reduce tearing and would like a few people with a keen eye for graphics to take a look and see if they still notice any issues.

    My QC guy says he's getting a lot of tearing and jittery motion. I'm wondering if his computer is just slow or old, as it seems to run fine on mine. I tried it on an older computer and I did notice significantly more tearing which seems would be the result of outdated, slower software, but he's really busting my balls to look further into this.

    Sorry to bump, is anyone able to take a quick look at this?

    Also my friend is now saying the game shouldn't have to use 3D acceleration because it's a 2D game... what's the counter argument here? Surely people use HWA in 2D games all the time, no?

    HWA lifts the burden from the CPU and places the load on the Graphic Card. This comes in handy, for say, rotating an 2D active. It will be much faster and smoother. Help your friend and tell him that developers use 3D acceleration for 2D games often.

    It isn't necessarily "3D" acceleration. HWA stands for Hardware Acceleration. It's literally just using the video card to process some of the data instead of putting all the stress on the CPU.

    A game without hardware acceleration means it's using primarily the CPU to do everything. With HWA a lot of stuff can be handled by the GPU. Like rotating/scaling/effects.
