[BUG 257-9] Large background objects causing slowdown

I've recently noticed a problem with slow frame rates and large background objects (Quick Backdrop, duplicated Backdrops, pasted Actives, Background System Box, etc)
If there's a bunch of scaled Actives overlapping the background object(s) the frame rate drops on my iPod touch 4G (but is a solid 62fps on my iPad 2) even though there are no conditions checking for collision at all and nothing moves.

By just deleting the backdrop the frame rate goes back to normal.

Furthermore, the more area overlapped by the scaled actives the slower the frame rate on my iPod touch 4G.
I'm running iOS 5.1.1 on both devices.

I've attached a simple example showing the problem

Update - the Actives don't have to be scaled, just overlap the backdrop a lot
