    Using Admob

Seeing that there is quite a few released games now, did anyone try Admob yet?

I've made the account on Admob and entered the publisher ID into the "Admob ID" in MMF2.
However, how do I know if this works?

I tried making an apk and launching it, but (to no surprise) it does not show any adds.
Is it because it is not published in play store?
Can I use the Test Device ID somehow, and if so, how?

Nevermind, Admob just took a few days to set it up for me. Works now.

Hi, I was wondering how abmob ads are set up. On the admob site they provide api code to add into the game script (you can't add this in mmf2). they also ask for an android package URL- does this mean that the game must first be uploaded on to google play? The only interaction as for as MMF2 is concerned is by enabling Ads in the properties and adding an 'ad ID'. Does this mean that admob ads are entirely set up via an admob account online? Any help would be very much appreciated. It doesn't seem at all very straight forward or clear.

I am not sure I understand the question

Make an account on Admob and get your publisher ID
Then just enable the ads in the application property and insert the publisher ID

You don't need to do any of the work in your game file you read about on the Admob site.
Any other settings are done on your admob account online.

    Hello Jeff,
Thanks for the reply. I'm asking because I tried setting up Admob ads with a game sponsor who normally has to add SDK code into the apk to get the ads to show up- he says that they are set up there in the code. In MMF2 this part is already present and built in right? but how do you set it up, like the position, size, type of ads. Also Admob asks for an 'android package URL'. Would that be the address of where the game is hosted. I've added the admob ID and 'enabled ads' but no ads show up. Admob doesn't seem to have any way of setting ads up on-site. They provide code to add into the game to do this. It's all very confusing.
Any advice would be a real life saver. Thanks

I'm not sure I 100% follow what you're looking to do but I'll give it a shot.

The options available to you via the Android properties tab are standard and default. You can't switch between ad types etc. Only the predefined.

If your sponsor and/or publisher requires use of another SDK then you'll need to develop an extension exclusively for use with the SDK. Otherwise you could always create your own system in-game using things like GET object and Active Picture etc.

Thanks Danny. Sorry if I've been unclear. Basically, my problem is that I can't seem to get Admob ads to work. The help on the Admob site doesn't help as it's geared up for adding sdk code to get the ads to show. My sponsor has only done it with other software so he can't help.

I've added the Admob ID, enabled ads, he's uploaded the game to his admob account yet the ads won't show. I don't know where they are meant to show, whether it be at the start of the app, between frames, in frames (could that be intrusive?). I wonder where the built in MMF2 admob code puts the ads.

I think that as long as the ads show up in some form, my sponsor will be happy. Sadly I haven't managed to get to that stage and my sponsor is even more confused than me. I hate to be a bother but it's a frustrating stumbling block seeing as the game finally works in every other way except for it's selling point.

Oh, I see. Ensure you check the frame properties 'Display Ad' for the frames you wish for Ads to display upon...
