    How to update in game

    Hey all, I am getting back in to making games. I was wondering is there a way to make it check for updates for the game (I made).

    I want to send it out to friends and **** but I know there is stuff I would like to update it with or add but don't want tell people they have to re download it to get the update.

    You could use the Download Object to download a version.txt from a website. Inside that would be the newest version. It would check if the newest version and current version differ, and if they do, it should download the new version from that website and remove the version.txt! Haven't done something like this, but just an idea. It can maybe be done with the FTP object too...

    It might be a big pain in the butt, but if there's not many other end-users you need to send updates to I'd just re-send them the updated exe link to re-download. I just recently had to go this with my Equin v1.2 game and (for me) it was much easier to just re-send a dozen or so new links than to go through any offical updater.

    Now if you have or anticipate hundreds or thousands of end-users eventually you might want to try doing it the way Game_Master mentioned.

    Yea you maybe right. I guess I will just wait to do it.
