    Diagonal d-pad (POW)

I'm trying to detect diagonal movement on my xbox controller. For whatever reason the default gamepad detection in MMF uses the left analog stick and ignores the dpad (at least on the xbox controller), so I'm using the joystick object 2.

With this object I can detect 4 directions on the gamepad, but can't figure out how detect diagonal movement (all 8 directions).

As a workaround I've attempted this:
"d-pad Left" is down AND "d-pad up" is down = Register diagonal movement (left-up)

This does not work. I think the dpad actually uses 8 buttons, and both the MMF default gamepad settings and the joystick object 2 is unable to detect the diagonal buttons.

    Any suggestions on solutions?
Can I use the XNA controller extension for a standard windows exe build? I'm guessing I need to purchase the XNA runtime and there is not possible to buy the extension separately? It's not that expensive, but it would be cool to confirm that it actually solves my issue.

Thanks willy for sharing that solution. I will be adding this to my website.

Great, all credit goes to snail.
If you add it to your website please rename the mfa to "diagonal dpad" (not "keypad" :p).

Ok. I renamed the file, and it may be some time before it goes live on my website.
