Question about the "body parts" tutorial and collision

Hey, I recently started going through all the tutorials on the website one at a time to get a better understanding of MMF2, but last night I hit a bit of a road block. I'm not an expert by any means yet, and I feel like there just has to be some sort of solution to this that I'm not getting..

Basically, I got all the animation done in sections one and two of the body parts tutorial (intermediate level), but I couldn't get over the fact that my characters feet were halfway in the floor and halfway up my body... By changing the Hotspot to the top of the feet instead of the middle, it looked a lot more realistic as far as walking went, but now the entire foot was underground. Basically the only thing responding to collisions was the bottom of the body, instead of the bottom of the feet. I tried all the basic stuff that I know about collisions and I couldn't do anything to get his feet out of the ground besides changing the hotspot back to the middle/bottom of the foot, but that was really just moving his feet up on his body and it just looks silly. Is there any way to get the collision detection to start with his feet instead of his body in this example?

The other thing I tried (which was where I left off last night) was having an invisible active object the size of his feet that I was actually controlling, while the body was just copying its X and Y positions... this is the closest I've come yet to getting his feet out of his body AND out of the floor, but now ive noticed there is a slight lag with all the other body parts trying to keep up with the body, which is trying to keep up with the invisible square... It definitely looked smoother at first. I don't know, I can't think of anything else to try from here, and my mind just isn't letting this go. If anyone had any tips, advice, or solutions, it would be much appreciated. thanks.

    Hey!
As far as I remember, in that tutorial, the bodypart is what actually collides with the ground. Instead you could use an invisible larger object and set both the body and the feet relative to this object instead.

yeah, that was the only thing i could get to work, but then it wasn't responsive as it was before.. I was just wondering if there was any better way that I didn't know about. Ohh well, at least it was just a tutorial. Sure was frustrating the crap out of me last night, though, so I just had to know if I was missing some better way of doing things.

I've just been trying to get through as many of the tutorials as possible before the demo expires to see if it's worth my money. I used to have the old version of The Games Factory back in the day, but after I finally convinced my mom to buy it I never used it much. Wasted a few hours here or there, sure, but I never had anything to show for it.. I'm still on the fence about dropping $120 at the moment, but so far it seems pretty intuitive and I've had fun with it so far.

edit: waitasecond, Popcorn?! are you the guy who wrote the tutorial? Well I'm really digging the community support so far, if that's the case.. nice tutorials. If you are just a random Popcorn, ignore this message.

Hehe, thanks! Yeah I am, there's only one Popcorn here
I guess that particular tutorial can be quite confusing, and it might not actually show the best way to do stuff, but at least it shows you that those kind of things are possible to do with MMF2
