    Perspective stretching

I need a way to stretch objects horizontally, but only at the bottom of the image, leaving the top the same or at a reduced level of stretching. Perspective object almost pulls it off, but is all-or-nothing in that it affects every object underneath it, as opposed to one single object at a time.

Is there a way to do this?

You might need to do this outside of MMF in a graphics package. Sounds like you need to Skew the images. Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro or Gimp or any decent graphics tool should be able to do it. Then you'll have to re-import the images as new Active Objects/Backdrop Objects.

Thanks for the response. Unfortunately, I'm looking to make the change in real time, based on the object's position relative to the player, so using an outside program isn't an option.

That will certainly be useful to the project, yes. I'll toy around with it and see if I can find a way to use it for the ground/sky as well. Thanks!

If your game is for windows, Werbad's 3D pixel shader should be just what you're looking for.

Definitely! Based on the effects I'm seeing in various example files, that would be perfect. I can't seem to find the extension itself, though. Is it a Developer-only extension?

It's not an extension - it's a pixel shader (which is why it won't work with any exporters, although it doesn't require MMF2 Developer either).
If you can't find them anywhere else, the shader files are included with my pseudo-3D examples here: http://www.sketchy.co.nf/

Excellent, thank you. Given your experience, do you believe this approach could be used to make a pseudo-3D floor and ceiling, similar to Mode 7? I'm wanting to avoid using the Mode 7 object itself for a variety of reasons.

It could... although my general advice for anything remotely 3D in MMF2, is to not bother (I only made those examples at the request of someone else).
