Using a Global Value within Global String?

Can a Global Value's string be used within a Global String?

    For example:
    Global Value A = 5
Global String A = There are STR$(Global Value A) apples.

    Would result in:
    There are 5 apples.

I'm trying to do this to insert tags into text with variable numbers in them but it doesn't seem to work. I can't seem to scrape it together by using half a tag + the global value + the rest of the tag. I think there's parenthesis trouble.
