Exclamation [BUG] Active Picture URL downloading not working

It appears as if the Active Picture object no longer downloads images from a URL like usual.

If I enter a url instead of an image path like: "http://something.com/image.png"
It doesn't load in the exe runtime.

However it works just find in the Android runtime.

I reported this a few months ago too... definitely needs to be fixed.

This is not a bug, the APO has never been able to download a file in the PC runtime.

Yes, to follow up on Yves` post, this was just a side-track addition to Android (unsure about iOS). This addition was never implemented into the PC runtime.

Are there any extensions that can do it? I assume you could get the image as a string using the Get extension, but how would you convert the string to display as a picture?

For an updatable* (clientside) game launcher I wrote, I just manually downloaded the image at the start and just displayed via APO. I put a timestamp check in place with the server so if the image hadn't changed, there would be no need to download. Doing it via GET, you'd have to get each chunk of binary bit by bit, for the PC runtime it's not worth the hassle.

Not sure what you mean by "manually downloaded the image"... I can imagine you'd instruct each user to enter the image url and right-click save to the application directory. Surely you're automating some how? What extension can download from the web apart from Get?

There is a download object. Which is my typical way of downloading and displaying images, but I saw that it worked in the Android runtime so I assumed it was a PC runtime feature as well.

    Thanks for the response Yves.
