"Design your app for tablets" How to do it right?

This question seems to remain unsolved: http://community.clickteam.com/threads/80775-Designed-for-tablets

on Google Play Developer dashboard it's bugging me to update my apps to support tablets.

"Your APK should support common tablet screen sizes (LARGE and XLARGE)."

I am tempted to mess around a bit with the AndroidManifest.xml found in Data\Runtime\Android\RuntimeAndroid.zip
anyone have any experience with that, and/or is there an official solution to this?

While I haven't actually published anything to Google Play to know if this is right or not, it could be something as simple as specifying the right display settings (fit inside/fit outside/stretch)

xlarge screens are at least 960dp x 720dp
large screens are at least 640dp x 480dp
normal screens are at least 470dp x 320dp
small screens are at least 426dp x 320dp

Density is another factor that might impact this, the information on Android Developers explains this in detail. I'd quite like to know the 'best' way to support both tablets and phones too.

Has anyone found an answer to this yet, I'm also getting the same warning on Google Play.. I have made the screen size 1280 x 720 and the size is set to fit inside with black bars. I have tried it on my wifes tablet and it looks fine on it so I'm not sure why it's giving me jip!?

My app is 1280x720 but it isnt ready to publish yet but looks wonderful on my galaxy tab 2 (fitting inside black bars). I would think this resolution would be optimal for tablets.

I agree! It looks fine on two different tabs I've tried it on.. But annoyingly Google disagree It still says "Your APK does not seem to be designed for tablets."

What Google says is a suggestion:

    from link

    http://developer.android.com/guide/t...s-element.html

two information that will explain everything

"You do not need to provide alternative resources for every combination of screen size and density. The system provides robust compatibility features that can handle most of the work of rendering your application on any device screen, provided that you've implemented your UI using techniques that allow it to gracefully resize."

"The foundation of Android's support for multiple screens is its ability to manage the rendering of an application's layout and bitmap drawables in an appropriate way for the current screen configuration. The system handles most of the work to render your application properly on each screen configuration by scaling layouts to fit the screen size/density and scaling bitmap drawables for the screen density, as appropriate. ..."

Even though it says that in the developer console I don't think it really matters. It shows up in the store on my Nexus 7

My recently uploaded APK is reporting that it is not designed for tablets Did anyone find a fix for this? I've tried changing the minimum/target android versions appropriately but still no luck.

I would encourage you to go into the version 2.5 Android forum and post.
More people read that then this older one.
