The Physics platform movement is newer, and uses the physics engine instead of an old (and buggy) engine. The other platform movement is old (by "old" I mean "maybe 10 or 15 or 20 years old" kinda old, not "since the launch of MMF2" kinda old), buggy (like I said, it is really old and that makes the code pretty buggy most of the time), and really shouldn't be used for much of anything other than maybe a quick test. In MMF2 there was the excuse of it being the easiest way of making a simple platform game, even if it was the most buggy way of doing it 99.9999999% of the time. In Clickteam Fusion 2.5 you don't even have that excuse, as the Physics platform movement is as easy as the platform movement, and much more stable. Not to mention the fact that the physics platform movement is still under active development, so the developers don't mind taking feature requests for it.
