    Question Zipping files together.

    Hi Folks.

I need a way to zip a bunch of files together into a single file from within my application. This is to allow the user to select a bunch of files and have them compacted into a single file for easy sharing with others. I know the Binary Object can do this but it's tricky. I know there is a Zip Object but that it's buggy. Are there any other ways to achieve this? I checked the Array Object but it won't accept files as array entries.

There's the Directory Packer object for that.
If you need zip files, I personnally use a python script to archive multiple files.

Thanks for the feedback. I've downloaded the Archive Object and will create a test with it tomorrow to make sure it works before I use it in my main program. I'll post my results here and let yous know if it works ok.

I tested the Archive Object today and it crashed Fusion 2.5. When I tried to zip files together Fusion stopped working. I have sent an email to Stephen about it since he is the creator of the software. In the meantime I'm going to try and use the Binary Object to achieve my goal. Someone mentioned the Directory Packer Object but I don't want to zip up an entire directory, I just want to zip up selected files at runtime.

Do you have an mfa Paul? It works fine for me in 2.5 280.28, so this is a little confusing...

Stephen, I ran the example file for zipping files that comes with the extension. When I click the button to zip the files, Fusion 2.5 280.28 stops working and crashes.
