    2.5 fps problem build 280.32

    (phone used iphone 3gs)
If I compile the game with mmf 2 fps are stable and the game works properly.
If I compile the game with Fusion 2.5 fps drop significantly (-20 fps) and the game becomes unplayable.

Am I the only one having this problem?

    Is a 3gs really a device that's still supported?

nope. iOS market is focused on 4 and above (where 4 is really minimum). I'm searching infographics to prove. 3gs was abadonned long time ago by mainstream developers.

I know many people who still use a 3gs...
If I have the opportunity to make my game work well on all devices, I do not see why not do it.

from selling app point - it's not worth.
from free app point - still not worth, but you can get "extra points" for resurrecting dinosaurs.

    Ok ...
the problem remains that the games compiled with fusion 2.5 are slower...

There's probably a lot more code in the runtime now with the physics stuff in it.. that might make it slower, but only noticeable on a low end device.. 3GS is pretty ancient

It is a tough balance to keep.

We are looking into the slowdowns in the 2.5 release.
With the new display routines we are using it should be theoretically faster though there can be some factors that in the end makes it slower. This is however something we can address and hopefully fix. I already fixed a bunch of performance problems that will be in the next release.

Sacrificing a little performance isn't always bad if it allows for a lot of new features to be possible.
It is always annoying to be that one user that doesn't use those features and would rather have the performance instead of more features. We are always looking to find the best of both worlds to keep everybody happy

    Thanks Anders

One thing that really slows the game seem to be Backdrops.
In scenes with many Backdrops (collision-free), slowdowns are higher.

I look forward to the next release, good job
