    Mega Man-Like Scrolling?

Greetings. I'm kind of new here, but I'd like to inquire about the concept of doing Mega Man style screen transitions.
If you've played any of the games, there are multiple segments in which the screen stops scrolling, and hitting the end of the screen does a scrolling effect.

(note: this isn't an actual screenshot if you were wondering)
How could I easily achieve this effect in Fusion?

Would an 8 bit Zelda scroll work for you? If so I have some open source examples on my website.

Most of my small Mega Man engines use the screen scroll technique. Though there are other ways of doing this like Marv said in Zelda games.

Ah, N64. I was actually looking at the scrolling in your engine but I couldn't understand it very well. Do I have to have a giant active object overlapping the screen or something?

Also, yeah. I think Zelda-Style scrolling might help.

One of the older ones I think use screen boxes. There's divider like objects that actually do the scrolling, the screen boxes probably just stop the camera screen from moving toward the player.
http://gcnmario.free.fr/MM-Engine.mfa I think this is the one from the GBC demo. It's a little more organized. Though it still uses dividers to do the transitions.

Which Mega Man game are you specifically wanting it to scroll like? I have Mega Man II on my phone. Is that what you are referring to? To clarify, the screen wouldn't scroll, but the character would move, and then when you get to the edge of the screen, the screen would slide across to the new area, like the Gameboy Zelda's (as someone else mentioned)?

If I were to do that, I would first try a box the size of the screen and make the scrolling follow that, and use if events to determine where I wanted it to stop, and when i wanted it to scroll again. To make it stop, you'd use some sort of if event and detector, and to make it scroll, you'd just push it along with something like "when event occurs, position.x = position.x + 5 (for duration of timer or until the screen hits another object to make it stop).

And it sounds like the other guys have good advice too, I haven't looked at their links.

Why do you need a box the size of the screen? You could make a 4x4 invisible active and set it to follow the camera, then do your events on it.

You could do that, but having a box the size of the screen gives the advantage of programming the scrolling to stop when it bumps in to a certain object, and makes it conceptually easier to picture. But really it's whatever works best for you.

    Alright, here's what I have.
I have an invisible screen-sized object and a detector in the stage.
When the screen-sized object hits the detector, the screen stops but it can't return backwards.

The events aren't exactly really that good, but I really have no idea how to do this so...

I'm not exactly a professional user of MMF2 but it would be nice to give a run-down on how this works, as just looking at events doesn't help too much.
