    Scrolling upscreen help

    Hi when making a top down scrolling game were it actually scrolls not a pseudo one were you have stars coming towards the player, how would you stop the ship going off the back of the window? Been trying to work it out for a long time now. Hope someone can help.

    If you mean stop the player moving into the frame area that is not in view and stay visible on the screen then you could try testing the y position of the player with the top and bottom visible edge properties in the frame object.

    You would also need to keep the player moving in time with the scrolling so they do not stay still and eventually go off the top of the window view on the frame. You could add to the y position the same value you are adding to the y position of the scrolling to move it, or could try unticking the follow the frame property on the player active object.

    you want to prevent the player from going outside the screen area?

    + Test position of player object (check the arrows if it's going out of the screen)
    -> stop

    you can test the options whether you need to check the outside arrows or inside arrows and also try the different ways of stopping the movement (may depend on your player object's movement properties)

    Because its scrolling up screen the player tends to go off the bottom, so if i made the player follow the screen but add the if player leaves screen event would that fix it?

    Here's an example: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...ingexample.mfa

    I have unticked the follow the frame on the player, and to stop the player moving out of a zone I have created two invisible active objects also without the follow the frame ticked with an event to stop when colliding with it.

    The Follow the frame makes the object stay positioned to the window and won't move with the scrolling.
