How can I recognize individual letters in a string?

I am working on a project that involves recognizing particular characters in a string, but I don't know how to achieve that.

What I want to do is, say I had the Global String A set to "abc".

I want Fusion to check to see if the first letter of the string = a. If it does, I want it to do something.
Then I might want Fusion to check the last letter and to see if it = c. If it does, I want Fusion to do something else.

I need to recognize the individual letters. Can someone please help me to achieve this?

Here is an example file that reads each letter of a string. Once you can read each letter, you can then do what you want based on what each letter is. Hope it helps you out.

Thank you I believe I have it working now

I achieved it by using the "compare two general values" and then comparing two alterable strings.

Then I can use the mid$ function to isolate individual letters. Thanks to both of you
