Question iOS and Physics Movement with on screen controls?

    Hi Folks.

I'm working on an iPad game using the new physics in Fusion. The problem I'm having now is how to make the player character controllable with onscreen control buttons? The player character is using Movement Platform physics. I have three buttons on the bottom of the screen, Left, Right and Jump. I can probably program the left and right myself but how do I make the character jump when the user clicks the jump button?

Probably use Impulse, and set it to 50 or so force. You probably have to say if character is facing right apply impulse at 45 degree angle, and if left apply impulse at 145 degree angle.

iOS and Physics Movement with on screen controls?

To left you will use 180║...not 145

With the Physics Platform Movement, you don't have access to this in the Event Editor. I'm guessing I'm going to have to reprogram the movement to perhaps physics ball movement. Thanks for the info.

Umm... I can't seem to figure this out. How do you set up controls for a physic movement that is originally linked to keyboard controls? Perhaps we need this feature added to the movement controls in MMF.

    Hi,

I've been trying to do this too (I started a new thread, because I hadn't seen this one).

It's seems odd that we can't take a game that uses the Physics Platform Movement and replace the keyboard presses with touches. I have found that the on-screen joystick works, but I'd really like to use my own touch controls.

I will reiterate what Paul said, which is that the physics movements are unavailable (i.e. greyed-out) in the event editor, for objects that have the Physics Platform Movement assigned.

Did anyone have luck with this?

you can just use a physics static object and make a platform movement with it.

on Andoid there is an extension to simulate key presses.. this has been a requested and missing ios feature for years

With the AndroidPLus object you can simulate six different keys from your Default Controls setup (Up/Down/Left/Right/Button 1/Button 2).

    was this ever solved?

using custom touch controls to replace default keys in windows for physics.

    for ex: 8 directions movement
