    App Distribution

Maybe a silly question but does the Google SDK used to make our apk files lock the apps to Google Play or can we distribute them through other sites e.g. http://apps.opera.com/en_gb/

I noticed on the Opera store (link above) that they distinguish between an Android App and a Google Play Android App i.e. there is a check box for each. Which one should we use?

I think that you can distribute your applications where you want.

Thanks for the replies. Yes I misnamed it the Google SDK rather than the Android SDK but as Google owns Android I wanted to make the point that the SDK is heavily biased towards Google. I realise we are free to add our apps anywhere but are users able to install them without a problem e.g. when I upload an app to Google Play, I can download it from Google Play without any problem. However, when I load an app from anywhere other than Google Play my Android devices (phone and cheap tablet) come up with a warning message and ask if I want Google to verify the app. OK, so I reset the preferences in my devices to say I'm OK to load any apps I wish and those messages no longer appear. Will other users do the same? My guess is they will probably not bother to continue the download. That's what I mean when I say 'are the apps we create locked to Google Play'?

well is the only way, user needs to be agree to install sources from unknown location.

Simple answer to your question, NO apk are not linked to google (see that you may create apk for OUYA or Amazon), is a regular apk signed that you may upload to the device from any place, only depends on device authorization to upload from unknown sources.

I saw the ouya exporter, but what do you mean about amazon Fernado ? is there a way to save for amazon (except by importing directly an android APK inside amazon) directly inside fusion developper ? I never saw the option

Right now mean "amazon store", in amazon store and for kindle that no need for anything special as it required in OUYA.
