Question Another Resolution Question- What resolution for the most crisp graphics on a PC game

    Hi Everyone!

I know the resolution question has been discussed a million times and I've poured through the threads about it on this forum but I'm not quite satisfied. A lot of the threads are very old.

I'm making a game PC with very flat and simple graphics and in order for them to look good they have to be as crisp as possible. I've found that scaling them up either makes them fuzzy or jagged (depending on anti-aliasing.) I'm currently testing on 1280 x 720 up from 1024 x 768 but it's still fuzzy on my monitor.

The game shouldn't be too demanding, as it's mostly mini-games and not a ton of objects. Is there any hope more super crisp graphics? Am I being a crazy perfectionist?

Also related - Would it be harder to scale up or scale down if I changed my mind or (if people like it) port it to mobile or html 5?

    Example of graphics - https://www.dropbox.com/s/myk2j7kh8s...24.53.png?dl=0

    Thank you in advance!!!

Oh also - I've read a lot about the Ultimate Fullscreen Object but wasn't able to get it to work in CF 2.5. Is it supported? Maybe I downloaded an older version that isn't compatible?

One thing to note about optimal resolution is that there is no real answer.

You can easily go with 800 x 600 for decent resolution size, but since a vast majority will have HD, you'll want to beef up the size to around 1280 x 768, which is the new 800 x 600 today. Others have screen sizes as large as 1920 x 1280. Screen resolution is also going to depend on the device you intend to use. Smaller devices with small screens can "sometimes" get away with smaller resolutions, but be careful because that could lead to loss of quality. Too large and images might be hard or impossible to see. Larger devices will need larger display so the frames don't appear cluttered or "bulked over".

In short, it will have to be based on your own trial and error....you could even try using "change resolution mode when the application is full screened.

I don't like the 1280X720 resolution, because it distort the image on 16/9 monitor.
If you are looking for a High resolution, I suggest you to consider the possibility to set the resolution to 1440X900 (without changing the screen resolution).

Huh? 1280x720 IS 16:9, there should be no distortion at all. 1440x900 is 16:10

I'm developing using 1920x1080 (16:9), and the Ultimate Fullscreen extension re-sizes it correctly (no distortion) on my 16:10 monitor, the only downside are small black bars at the top and bottom to even out the space.

Yes, the screen is not distorted because the black bars, but it is not a real "Full Screen".
Moreover I get some problem with the Ultimate Full Screen, especially if you work with Sub-App, it can happen that the screen froze, so be carefull.

Maybe its usefull to add that many gamers have 16:9 or 16:10 about 80% of all steam users use a 16:9 or 16:10 resolution as example [maybe more its all in the current hardware survey]. So its recommened to make ur native resolution for 16:9 and make some tweaks for other formats with the help of the mentioned ultimate fullscreen object. But you should note that some mini notebooks cant properly support higher resolutions than 1024x 768 [its probably a very small group o people using this though].

Without the ultimate fullscreen object resolutions by using the default fullscreen, which >wont< match your resolution (like you have 16:10 monitor and use a 16:9 resolution] could result in some stretching or slight picture deformation [depends on how different your aspect ratios are].
