    Pre-version of the editor runtime of the build 284

    Hi,

    I've posted a pre-version of the editor runtime for the build 284 in the CF 2.5 product owner's lounge forum. This runtime contains some aggressive optimisations, if you have heavy applications that suffer from slowdown could you test it and see if (1) they still work :p and (2) if you notice any significant improvement?

    PS: this concerns only the Windows runtime, some of these optimisations will be ported to the other runtimes if possible and if they are safe enough.

    Hi Yves,

    That sounds very exciting! In what areas would we expect to see an improvement?

    I have some slowdown when I have over 1500 objects on the build I am using (there are a lot of 'particle' effects using very small actives). I'm also using Linux (no directx) so currently am developing in standard display mode.

    You should expect an improvement mainly in Set/Add/Subtract/Compare global and alterable values, and maybe also in COmpare X/Y Position functions. Just check the test runtime with your app.

    Hey Yves! The debugger shows the alterable value beeing modified (always +1), but receiving the alterable value doesn't seem to work - still 0. With global values everything is fine though.

    I've been working on the tutorial 'fusion shapes', it's behaving weirdly I can't swap the shapes with the update. It has certainly sped up some of my other applications though, it will be awesome when it finished.

    Thanks! Fixed and updated on the server (and I also optimized loop indexes which were slow in the previous version).

    Thanks Snail. It's not completed yet, hopefully the next optimisations will help. Out of curiosity, if you set the frame rate of your app to 500 (+ unselect Vsync + run it in windowed mode) what are the frame rates with the edrt of the build 283 and 284?
