Physics - Combining multiple smaller actives into a single larger active?

Is this concept possible? I'd like to know before I start digging in any deeper, as I'm woefully bad at balancing out the parameters for physics-based objects.

I'd like to combined multiple objects into a single object, taking balance into account. Think of it as an additive Jenga. Perhaps stacking cubes upwards, then outwards on either side, with each cube addition effecting the balance of the overall tower.

    Thanks for any insights!

Oh. Like a RPG putting inventory items into a bag perhaps? Why do you need physics for this?

Not so much a bag system (such as Diablo). More like a tower building game where balancing the tower as you build is important.
