Fusion experience in creating Android Apps

    Hi,

I used to use Klik and Play, then Games factory quite some years ago. Just as a hobby as I enjoyed making 2D games and have no proper programming knowledge. I have to admit that due to the cost involved with the newer versions which have the exporter add on costs I was temped away to try Construct 2. I ended up using this now for the last 2 years making a few apps and released one on google play stores.

I have seen that Fusion 2.5 and the Android exporter are currently on a sale which has me interested. I was hoping to be able to test the export android feature but its become apparent that this won't be possible. To help, can any one give me advise on how Fusion 2.5 is compared the the gamesfactory days, and how well it exports to android?

One of the biggest problems with Construct 2 is the fact all Android exports are html5 in a wrapper program which can hinder performance. Not too big issue on phones like s5, but it hinders older phones.

Does F2.5 have a good performance native .apk when built?

Is it easy to export to an apk

Can multiplayer games be made for Android?

Can it use google play services / facebook etc...

Does it work on older devices?

    Many thanks

Have you tried some of the games released on the Android?
The one that hit the big time is "Five Night at Freddy's"
There are a ton of other games out you can try out to see how they work.
A bunch are listed in the forums here and on the Facebook page.

Yes its super easy to export an APK from Fusion.

You set up the Java JDK, Google SDK and download the API you want to use. (All of this is free and pretty easy)
Then make sure the path is set right in the Fusion preferences to the JDK and Google SDK
Then its a simple File - Build and you have an APK file.

Exporting the apk is a breeze. You need just to properly set up the SDK and JDK, and off you go. Transfering the apk to your device ain't that hard either. You create a folder when opening up the device SD card, and put in the apk there. Then it's just a matter of launching the installer from a file browser in your device. The install requires all rights granted (I wish there where ways to limit this), once that process is done, then you have the application listed in the program manager. Launch it to test it out.

Please note that Android ain't the fastest devices to use, so keep in mind that you have to think prestandawise when developing the game. The BTD cycle (building testing and debugging) takes around 10 minutes for me, but this can vary as well.
