hi schrodinger. I tried to use what you taught me in my game, and it won't work. I do have like 5 layers going... would that be the issue? also, I've tried putting the viewport on every layer.... is viewport a 1 layer only type of object?

Mmm, I don't think you can get the viewport object working on multiple layers, unfortunately.
After a quick test it seems to work only for the layer he's currently in, but maybe some further testing could be done to fool it...
Tomorrow I'll try some other workarounds, now I have to go...
    have nice coding meanwhile

Hey, sorry but yesterday I was a bit in a hurry and didn't test well!
    Forget above reply
    Viewport can show multiple layers,
only make sure you place it in the foremost layer, the top one you see in the layer window.
Also, you'll have to use only one viewport object for your purposes,
and add an action for always bringing its order to front, if you create objects at runtime,
otherwise they'll slip above source region (I guess) an won't be shown.

Sorry again for previous answer, I fear I mismatched layer order in yesterday's first quick test!
(that's something I often do... I would find more intuitive the opposite direction for ordering)
