help with instances of one object talking to instances of another

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I am slightly confused about object management in fusion.

I am trying to get the instances of one object to talk to the instances of another object. What is the cleanest, most efficient way to do this in fusion?

Lets say I have 2 instances of the list object, both have different contents. And I have two instances of an Active object.

Both the list object and the active object instances have unique ID each.

How do I tell fusion to affect only instance (ID=0) of the active object , when a new selection in List (ID=0) has been made. And depending on the selection, active object changes sprite.

Is there somewhere a simple example of instances of one object talking to instances of another object.

The idea is that most of the time I need more than one game objects in order to create an enemy in my game, or to create some kind of a logic in my app.

Thank you! Are there any exaple files out there that illustrate in a simple way the various ways you can control multiple instances?
