Question DavidN's Custom Platform Movement jump

    Hey Clickteam,

I have two levels built with DavidN's Custom Platform Movement. I guess its from years of playing Mario games, but the "feel" of when my character jumps doesn't feel right. When I hold the forward arrow key to move forward and jump, if I let go of the forward key, the player will stop immediately midair as if hit by a brick wall. There's no forward momentum. Is there a way I can implement this into DavidN's movement.

hi there emerson, this is not a custom engine but uses the physics engine instead -- it's super easy not sure if this would be useful for what ya trying to make.
This sorta feels like le ole mario.

Any reason you're not using the platform movement object? It's capable of completely professional quality platformer movements very easily, with inertia that you can even change at run-time etc.

    Cheers.

    Well BrashMonkey,

I don't know. . This was my first experience ever in game creating. I think I stumbled upon DavidN's tutorial and just went with it. Would you recommend Platform Movement Object?

Emerson, I also strongly suggest you to invest some time to learn Platform Movement Object (often referred to as 'PMO' here in the forums and outside)
As Brashmonkey said it's capable of professional results, very flexible and powerful, and easy to learn (the help file which comes with the extension is comprehensive enough, but you can also find examples for more complex stuff, if you need)
