Is DarkSocket not something Websocket related? I use Socket.io already with the other engines that I plan on using in conjunction with CF2.5.

Are you perhaps up for accepting donating specifically to a plugin project such as websocket usage that works with Socket.io?

Note: I wouldn't specifically need it for any exporter besides windows at the moment.

Yo IndieIndeed, yes, that's possible to do.
I'm actually writing the Lacewing HTML5 port to use Socket.IO at the moment, but since Socket.IO supports browsers that don't have HTML5 WebSocket support, e.g. don't support HTML5, it's kinda pointless to support non-HTML5-compatible Socket.IO in a HTML5 exporter. WebSocket is HTML5 only and so it would be suitable on its own, whereas Socket.IO is a whole mesh of workarounds on top of WebSocket, like ActiveX and XMLHttpRequest polling.
You can already use Lacewing without Fusion, in C++, both client and server,so I'm not really sure you would need raw socket access.
