Can Flash games be played on mobile devices?

I've seen some people asking about how they can download Flash, on their tablets to play Flash games. Can Flash games actually be played on mobile devices?

If they can, then does that mean we need to include touch controls in Flash games, or should they just be made for desktops, using keyboard controls?

On most modern devices it isn't possible. The only tablet I know that has a Flash player is the Blackberry Playbook. My old Nokia phone has a Flash Lite player too but it runs on Symbian not iOS or Android like most phones and tablets nowadays.

Flash is only for desktop computers and it's a dying market...

Really? I heard that Flash is a bigger market than HTML5 still, as on the FGL they said that Flash games are more popular than HTML5 and still generate more money than them.

Well, I think that HTML5 is spreading (as in, it's being used more), and I think that Flash is veeeeeeeeeeeery slowly being used a bit less often, so I think it's safe to say that in a few years (whether that ends up being 2 years or 20 years is another question entirely), HTML5 may very well overtake Flash as the most popular way to make browser-based games...

Interestingly the bottom has fallen out of the HTML5 market a bit. Flash is still widely used and adopted but is rubbish on mobile devices.

Have a read of some of the blogs over at FGL.com
