    Question Beat-'em-up movement with jumping/platforming?

Does anyone know how to do something like this? I saw a thread on here that recommended using a drop shadow to track everything, but I don't think it would work at all for me, since the perspective wouldn't look correct. I'm trying to create something VERY similar to the beat-em-up sections in Battletoads, where it basically tracks 3 dimensions as your character moves and jumps around. Does anyone know how to do something like this?

If you draw the backgrounds with correct proportions, and have the shadow track the players X Y movement (without the jumping) correctly, then it SHOULD work.

I'm pretty sure I've seen the engine built in CT Fusion before... Unless I'm imagining it. But an engine like this SHOULD be easy to write.
