Importing video? My first time using MMF

I'm trying to make an FMV game as a fun/interesting project. Ive looked around but im having trouble understanding,
how can I add video into a project? I've tried dragging the video file onto the frame and selecting "backdrop", but just the default backdrop icon appears when I run the application.

Any direction on how to add video would be greatly appreciated. I've read that there is a "direct show" object I should use but im not sure where it is located.

I would use the DirectX object to size and display your video as an external resource.

Thanks, where is that located? When I click "insert object" I don't see it.

my apologies, since you have not products registered I will have to assume you are using the free version.

By DirectX I mean either the Direct Show or the Active Direct Show objects. (both unavailable in the free version.

What the free version DOES have is the AVI, MPEG, and Quicktime objects that can display video. Perhaps one of these can help you. Your video format may dictate which object you would use.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that, i'm using the free version.

I went to the extension manager to try and install the MPEG, AVI, and Quicktime extension, but it says I have to upgrade to use them. Am I looking in the wrong place?

    Hey Patrick01

Again my appologies. I attempted to answer your question without having the free version in front of me.
now that I have switch laptops (and have Fusion 2.5 Free Edition) open I see you are correct. The video capability is not contained in the free version. There are two solutions.

    1. You could render the video as a giant animated GIF, or AVI file and then using the Active object import this GIF, or AVI, which will then split the video into its number of frames. This willl however remove any sound from the video.
    2. Upgrade to a licensed version.

Thanks for the help! I'll try the GIF/AVI option to begin.
