Question Generating player fire events from movement extension

    Hi Clickers,

So I'm writing a movement extension. So far it's working great except for one snag: how do I generate fire events? I want to be able to generate player1.Fire events from my own extension.

Take for example the built in "mouse controlled" movement. When you use that movement left mouse clicks cause player1.fire conditions to happen. How is this done via the movement SDK?

I'm assuming this must be possible because the built in mouse controlled movement is able to do it, but I do not see how it is possible.

Any advice you can give me will be gratefully received!

The built-in movements and objects do not use the movement or extension SDKs, hence why they are "built-in" - they are manually programmed as part of Fusion itself and have no external MVX or MFX files.

Still, I do believe it is possible, but I don't know how. If you ask Yves he can probably tell you right away.

    Hi LB,

Thanks for your reply. I too hope it's possible via the SDK rather than the built-in movements accessing internal Fusion classes/structures directly.

Is it even possible to contact Yves directly? I imagine the developers are busy and I'd assume would prefer not to be contacted directly?

You can PM Yves on these forums, he's generally happy to help out when it comes to the Fusion SDK. If he's busy it may take him a while to respond - I'm pretty sure he only checks here in his free time. Besides, the thing you want to do is not documented and I haven't seen any other movement extension do it so I don't think any other developer would know how.

Ok thanks again for your response! I will contact Yves directly. If I get a response I will post a follow up here if allowed for the benefit of anyone else in future.

ColdFire, movement extensions can't have A/C/Es unfortunately, you have to create a separate object like the Gwery Movement Controller / Clickteam Movement Controller.

Yes that's basically what I'm doing now: I'll write a new extension object exposing a "fire" condition (instead of sending them to the player object). This does mean I have to replace my existing player1.fire conditions with my new condition (this is not a new project: I got accepted thru Steam Greenlight so I am polishing things before release!!). Not ideal but I can certainly live with it.

    Thanks for everyone's assistance!
