Install Creator / Install Creator Pro - Build #44

    Hello,

    Update for Install Creator :

    Standard Version (English)
    Pro Version (English)

    Standard Version (French)
    Pro Version (French)

    Changes

    - Fix: when you create an installer with the wizard, change the language and select files to view or run in the end page, some texts of the end page could be in the original language.
    - Fix: the Next button in the Choose Directory page is now changed to Start if the Confirmation page is hidden.
    - New: when you press CTRL when you click on a source directory, all the files of this directory are selected in the Files list.
    - New: macros now work in the SubKey field when you add a registry key in the Install Info tab
    - New: .NET Framework 4.5 has been added to the list of versions of .NET Framework to detect.
    - New: if you define shortcut options for a file that has the "Do not install but create directory" option, IC will create a shortcut to the created directory.
    - New: on 64-bit machines you can install keys to the 64-bit HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software folder by replacing Software by Software64 in the key name. These keys will be accessible by your 64-bit applications. Note: if you want to install your 64-bit applications to the 64-bit Program Files folder, just use the #Program Files (x64)# macro.

    Yves,
Thank you for the Pro Version update!
But the icp.chm help file is not updated...
Maybe you can add a link to readme.txt in help menu of ICP ?

When I create an installer with this build, the uninstall icon still does not show up on control panel (its that little default white box). Is there something I am doing wrong? It does it with both the default icon and any other icon I try and use. I also cannot get it to pull a 2nd desktop shortcut. I want one for the program, and one for my website.

I am on windows 7 if that helps

    Thnks

To associate an icon with the uninstaller in the control panel, if you use Install Creator Pro go to the Install Info tab and add the following key:

    Root key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
    Key: Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstal l\title_of_your_product_in_the_WizardTexts_tab
    Subkey: DisplayIcon
    Value: #InstallDir#\name_of_your_icon.ico (or name_of_your_exe.exe)

To create a desktop shortcut to a web site, install a .URL file and then select this file in the list, select the File Options / Shortcut tab and enter a name for the shortcut. A .URL file is a simple text file similar to a .INI file:

    [InternetShortcut]
    URL=http://www.yourwebsite.com/

    (there are other options)

    Hello Yves,

I use the #title macro for my application name but i miss a macro for the version number.
Now i have to put this string by hand in:
    1) Miscellaneous text for the title bar
    2) Information
    3) registry subkey DisplayVersion

Is it hard for you to add a #version macro?

    Thanks

This will be in IC3, not in IC2, it requires too many changes.

    Hello Yves,
I just upgraded from Build 43 to Build 44. When I read this change
New: .NET Framework 4.5 has been added to the list of versions of .NET Framework to detect.
I was excited because i need to detect .NET 4. But I don't see any place in ICPro to enable .NET version detection, and it doesn't seem to be in the help.
Also, I need to deploy a COM object created with .NET 4. So I need to register it with regasm. Does ICP do this automagically? Or is there a way I can get the .NET 4 install folder so I can call regasm myself?
    Thanks.
    -reilly.

The .NET options are in File Options / View/Run tab. When you select a file to run you can select options not to run it if .NET x.x is installed (you usually use this option for running the .NET installer if .NET is not installed).

Hmm, ICP doesn't register .NET COM objects with regasm, and has no option to retrieve the .NET 4 directory, sorry. :-/

Unhappy Install path System32 is not included

    Hello Team.
Why you did not include path to System32 folder for 64 bit programs? Instead of this all our data go to SysWOW64 folder. What have to look in it?
There is no way to set in System32 folder, I already tried all existing tricks. Your macros thinking only for SysWOW64 path under 64 bit systems. I am in blank without any way to making the installer because of this. When will you make change?

Err, you mean the opposite, right? The #System# macro always returns the pathname of the System32 directory, it doesn't return the pathname of the SysWOW64 directory.
