An Event Request. Or maybe a better way?

    Hey Clickteam,

Please correct me or tell me if there's a way to accomplish this! On the event "When object collides with object," is there a way to have the object collide on the hot spot or action point of the object its colliding with? For example, my player needs to jump on a button that triggers an event. The only option I have is "when player collides with button." I have to place a sensor on the top of the button and on the bottom of my player in order for the button press to look realistic. I'm still a newer user to Clickteam, so maybe some experienced users know a better way. If not, a feature like this I think would be pretty cool. Let me know. Thanks Clickers!

There is no built in effect for this.. But there are tweaks available. The first thing that comes to mind is to add the following event(s)
    ObjA is overlapping ObjB
    Compare two general values: abs(ObjA's X position) - abs(ObjB's X position) equals 0
    Compare two general values: abs(ObjA's Y position) - abs(ObjB's Y position) equals 0

abs means absolute, it will turn any number into a positive number. 25 = 25, -31 = 31. What this means is, if your first object is overlapping the second object, and the differences between the X and Y positions (if the hotspots overlap each other), then do some action. Of course, having this event occur only on this one pixel is probably gonna make the event trigger very rarely, depending on your movement. I would replace 0 with a higher number. Increasing this number will increase the hit detection around the hotspots. Hopefully you understand the idea of what Im saying :p

That does make sense Kentronisk. Thanks for the response. But boy that seems like a work around for something like this. It seems like an option to collide on a hotspot or action point directly would be a cool event.

Detectors would work better for this anyways, since if you were to be able to collide solely with hotspot or action point, they're only 1x1 pixels, so you'd be dealing with quite a small point of collision.
