Ah okay, I didn't realise that was how it would work.

The main thing that I seem to stumble up on is this:
    http://wikisend.com/download/980436/Issue_026.mfa

    Here's the issues:
    1) When you click on an instance of the blue box it changes the animation to red, when you click on it a second time this animation goes much quicker and I'm not sure why?
    2) The green line always appears on the wrong blue box from the one I click on, I'm obviously messing up something with the scoping and would love to learn what I keep doing wrong.

    And while I'm being schooled
    http://wikisend.com/download/536162/Channelling.mfa

So I tested the auto pairing which is working, thanks I didn't know about this, but then I think it's the same core misunderstanding I have, when i click on one of them, all the paired ones change rather than just the paired one linked to the specific instance I click on?

    Hey dude,
in your issue_26.mfa the reason the green slider is on the wrong object is because you create 4 sliders, but you don't position the green sliders at the blue squares, you just create them at the squares.

    i.e.

CF25 doesn't automatically link the slider you create at the square, to that square

    see here:
    selecting the right greenthing.mfa

line14, positions the green thing at the blue thing before setting the fade.
I also changed the fade to be transferred from the blue square to the green thing as a variable before being applied to the alpha blend, this just seemed like good practice.

anyway, I wasn't sure from your code what you actually wanted to happen with the red animation? If you can explain the behavior you would like, I can help you out

    Channelling:
    See attached example.
    Channelling.mfa

Scribble always sets its position to Active and it's AltValA to the AltValA of Active.
(each one is successfully paired, as in your upload, only I'm now setting the position and a value)

When Active is clicked it sets AltValA to 1
this in turn sets the AltVal1 of the paired Scribble object.

If Scribble's AltValA = 1 then it sets its animation to Disappearing.

TBH, I find the pairing/channelling in CF really confusing, and tryto avoid it at all costs. Using ForEach and Loops is more complicated, but ultimately gives you more control. It may just be that I'm stupid, but I don't like that so mch of the pairing/channeling goes on behind the scenes.

Anyway, I hope the attached example helps explain it

Hey butterfingers, thanks loads for your help it's starting to make sense to me now

-First example that all makes sense. With the red box animation I just wanted to test that when you stop clicking on a box it turns a different colour briefly. What seemed to be happening was that the first time you clicked on all the squares the red lasted for the time I'd expect, but then 2nd time round the red animation seemed to go weirdly faster than it did the first time, do I need to say that when one animation is finsihed revert to the original or does it do that by default?

-Great second example makes sense too.

Not a Hero looks awesome by the way.

    Hey dude,

No worries. Decided that 2016 would be my year of helping around here!

If an animation finishes, CF will generally default back to the Stopped animation (if the animation you changed to isn't set to loop), but in general I'd always just control all elements of you animation yourself.

Oh and thanks on Not A Hero. I'm hyped that people like it!
