the speed 0 bug seems to be fixed from my last test. & wen on the selection screen of my game u can click on the character to change their costume color, so theoretically sumone cud click it indefinitely until it starts to bug out with slowdown. & yh i can work around, by creating clones of my objects with altered image colors so that they r not the exact same object image in fusion so it recognizes them as seperate. but then that will take up double or more the object space in memory & ive got 12 characters with LOADS of frames lol. i'm already stretching the ipod memory as it is

ideally u wud just b able to change the individual colors of object duplicates without having to make clone objects, coz in a game like final fight if u hav say 20 of the same enemy walks on the screen but they all need to be a different palettes, then i wud hav had to create 20 clones of my enemy object in the fusion workspace, which wud start getting REAL messy!....& then wat about the next lot of different types of enemies i need to do the same with lol GAME OVER!

ehh you're right, palette swapping is very useful for lots of things,
having a way to color things dynamically is super nice and handy

    last (crap) idea:
splitting "palette-swappable" bodyparts of each enemy,
like skin / shirt / trousers animations and syncing their positions
    would be HELL i suppose?
(so you could workaround the issue with Rgb coefficient,
not the full control you have with palettes but *could* be enough
    depending on your coloring style..)

Let's hope for Full color control in Fusion3 pixel by pixel

    +1!

Just read through the whole thread. I'm assuming this will be a definite feature in F3. But in the meantime for all us 2.5 users, this would be awesome!

My current project would benefit so much from this.

Keep up the great work Yves, thanks for looking into this!

finally got this working on ios, unfortunately it is VERY processor intensive, so if u change the colors of an object with loads of animation frames in it then there will be a significant pause as your game freezes while it recolors all the objects frames.

but for single 1 frame objects it is good.

a big thanx to yves for all his hard work & time spent getting this working correctly.

would be great if fusion 3 had a direct indexed palette solution

Someone told me years ago when I was working on a Mega Man fan game engine that the built in Color Swapping feature is not a good method of doing this. Mainly when I was coding Mega Man's charged shot at the time, that his color cycles would eventually lead to his suit being all one solid color (because colors are being replaced).

Someone mentioned to me that using shaders to get the same effect for palettes would work for this situation, but I don't know any more. :P

EDIT: Another thing I noticed with the recent mfa upload posts. The cycle is not flashing at 60 FPS. Even though the app itself is 60 FPS, the cycling seems like it's going slower, like either 30 or 40 fps. Maybe it has to do with the color replacement transitions from grey colors to new color. I can't tell but it seems sort of a slow transition cycle for a 60 FPS app.

in the end, the best way is actually to just have multiple color palette versions of your object

p.s. @ n64 mario , your megaman fan game engine rocked!
