(demo) unable to create anything... halp

i got the demo hoping that i could at least make a prototype... things happened. i clicked "create object", then but when i pressed OK or double clicked on active, nothing popped up. no sprite editor, no basic sprite. i am really upset as i would try my hardest to save up enough money for a standard version (to make a legendary mitzventures game (chess + overworld fighting RPG x puns and intented bugs = mitzventures)) but i really want to see if it's easy enough to be able to move a chess piece on command. i am on windows 7, using demo version, the latest there is, and i'm hoping this is fixable.
TL;DR refuses to paint object therefore deleting object without permission.

After you click OK, you need to click somewhere on the frame to tell fusion where to put the active.

well, sorry about that, because mostly everything automatically place things down but i guess since technical limitations, i guess that's fine.
