    Active Object Transparency Not Recognized

I've ported an application to flash and have run into a problem. I want to create an object and "shoot" it and have it make a mark on another object when they collide. This works fine until I port it to Flash. Then the shot object does not recognize the transparency of the object it is colliding with. Any suggestions?

I've included the mfa and flash files in a zipped file. I'm using the latest version of MMF 2.5 Pro.

Maybe it's a bug? If it can't be figured out I would post it in the bug box.

I see that UltimateWalrus explained it well on another post: The solution would be to disable alpha channels, or if you need alpha in your sprite, use a separate invisible active as its collision mask.

even so I still couldn't get your example working

Could someone show how it's done?

Thanks for solving it Fernando, don't know how I missed it, fine detection wasn't selected in active 22. I found your explanation very useful, I'll remember it for the future.

    aenever,

Where is the explanation that you reference in the post above?

Thanks for both you and Fernando. I'll check it out when I get home this evening.

    Hi Steve, here's the explanation:

"It's not due to the image, it's due to the collision detection routines.

The SWF exporter works like the non-HWA Windows runtime of MMF2. In this runtime, if one of the objects has the "fine detection" option OFF, then the collision is detected between both boxes.

In the CF 2.5 Windows runtime (as well as in the HWA runtime of MMF2), the collision detection is more precise. If an object is in "box collision" mode and the other object is in "fine collision" mode, then the collision is calculated between the rectangle of the first object and the image of the second object.

Solution in your case: turn on the "Use fine detection" option in the properties of Active object 22.
