    Juno's Darkest Hour (PC Action/Adventure/Platformer)

    Hiya everyone,

Here's a project I've been working on -and off- for quite a while now.
It's a simple 2D adventure platformer in which you play as Juno, a cute marshmallow spirit who must rescue her friends from the evil minions of the lizard wizard Glykon.

Juno has no reliable means of self-defense, and so you must use your reflexes and platforming skills to avoid most enemies. You defeat bosses through varied ways: you can gain a butterfly transformation to fight giant spiders in a top-down shooter sequence; You must solve a pipe maze to extinguish the magic flames allowing ghosts to see you; In some cases you only have to steal a key from the boss and run away, etc.
Once you somehow manage to defeat a boss, you either gain a new item or rescue a new character. You have to explore the world with different character and item combinations to access new areas, find more bosses and obtain even more treasures and characters. You will eventually find a weapon powerful enough to allow you to face the wizard and put a stop to his evil plans!

If you wish to see it on Steam, it is currently on Greenlight here! Any support is appreciated.

You can find more info about the game on the website here, and you can also download a playable demo here, with three different adventures - and secret bonus stuff if you can find all five collectible fragments.

    Here is the trailer :

voted up, very sweet and carefully crafted!

But I keep being curious on the reasons of the BW choice,
    could let somebody down...?
Is there some particular reason for that?
    Adding to retro feel?

    just curious

Well, it was somewhat a secret feature and part of the story, but seeing how the main reaction to the Greenlight page is "where is all the color?", the cat is now out of the bag :

Ahhh I had some suspect about that,
seeing first seconds of the trailer, it somewhat suggested a similar plot
but yeah, I fear you'll be forced to reveal that...
anyway is a very nice idea that will make the game even more likeable imho!

    Good luck!

P.S. just read the message from evil wizard Glykon.. ehehhe coool idea!

Looks good, LobsterKing! The gameplay looks fast and the levels are varied. Looking forward to playing it. Do you have people to test it for you?

Just a thought, but why does the game use a Game Boy/NES aesthetic and SFXR sound effects, but the trailer music sounds like general MIDI? I couldn't help thinking that chiptune would be a better fit. I haven't played the demo yet so it could be different. Good luck finishing it

Yes and no, I don't have any dedicated testers ; I had a lot of friends test the early builds and others gave me feedback on the recent demo.
Currently the only person who has completed the full game and lived to tell the tale is the soundtrack composer, and most of the game was majorly tweaked since.

Indeed, the ingame soundtrack is more fitting, check the ost links in the OP

    Thank you for your comments!
