Question application.cci file as big as full project?

I remember one tip to not have to build such a big file (especially if you are working with a cloud mac) was to first build a full xcode project and then after that is done you could just build the small application.cci file and replace that in the folder. However now I have noticed that the application.cci is as big as the full project. Have something been changed or is something wrong?
