Making User Profile Saves Using Array(s).

    I'm stuck...
I'm trying to make it where I can create an Array.
But I want the player to input their name
And make it where the name is the player inputs is the name of the Array.

The other problem is that I don't know what object I can user for text input?
Or Maybe a way for the player to name the Array as it's being created? (In built app)

Making it where there can be endless number of arrays(with different names)
that can be created in the finished app

    Any ideas?

I'm not looking for someone to do it for me. Just point me in the right direction. (Also note that I don't have the developer version of 2.5)
I might not have the all extensions to do this.

    Thanks in advance.

I always use SQLite 3 object for saving data, if you can use the pro version then use that. With the SQLite object you can store a ton of data. I am not sure if you know anything about SQL but I have not used INI or Arrays for years since I started using it.

You can use the Edit Box object to get text input from a user.

    Hope this helps!

Okay I just got it off my extension manager. Going to take some experimentation. And I was just getting used to Arrays...

If you are going cross-platform, arrays are perfectly fine.
Why would you want to give the Array the same name of the player btw?
You mean the array savefile name?

You just need one array in game,
and then you can save "multiple profiles" for different players,
loading player1.arr you would load data for player1
loading jusfury.arr you would load data for jusfury
    and so on

SQL is great and I would love it being more present in Fusion,
as it is now, imo has its own pros and cons you may need to consider:

pro: more readable "structure", chance of data interconnections, flexibility in retrieving data, multiple tables/queries all within the same database
con: is much slower than arrays and currently not cross platform,
and if you never used SQL syntax/databases/database management tools, it can be much harder to use than arrays

ok I see. So I would make an Array for each Player of however many saves I will allow in the game...
