    How To create an Ultimate Attack for a Top down android game

    Hi everyone I was just wondering if anyone has made a character have an Ultimate Attack?

    The screen will pause or the camera will zoom in but mainly the surrounding will pause and only the player is active to create this special attack, for example, I have included this video to show what I'm trying to create.     The simplest way is to have all the events that control your game in a group. Put any events related to the attack sequence outside of this group (in another group that is disabled by default). When the attack starts, disable the main game group (which will pause the game) and enable the group with your special attack events. When the attack is done, re-enable the main code group and disable the attack group.

    Please don't create multiple threads about your question. You have three different threads in a row on the forums. Keep your question consolidated to one thread. If you reply in your thread it will get bumped up to the top, there's no need to make more asking the same question.

    Mobichan's answer sounds like the right way to go. Use groups to activate and deactivate sections of code. Use that to stop the game except for your special attack code which will continue to move.

    I didn't mean to create multiple threads. I was trying to add tags and then that happened. OK, i understand how to create a pause effect but what about a camera effect? you know the zoom in and the picture coming up and stuff? did anyone watch the example i posted?

    I did watch the example you posted. I gave you the simple answer to your initial question. The zooming is a bit trickier, but you could try looking at the screen zoom object or possibly use shaders. But those are advanced techniques. Sliding in the portrait is simply moving an active object with a portrait picture. Just to make you aware, people are probably more willing to help you if you have a specific question and can show you have attempted to do it with a sample project file. If you simply ask for someone to do all the work for you, you will probably not get a quick response.
