    Question Wargame Map Object Help

I am looking for more information about the Wargame Map Object. I have Darby's book "Going To War", which lists properties, conditions, actions, and expressions but really does not go into detail on how to use them. If anyone has other links or resources I would greatly appreciate them. I am working on making computer versions of all these great old board games that I have. One of the problems that I have with Darby's book is the movement is based on using key presses in the number pad to move units one hex at a time. What I would like to do is what I have seen in similar games - the user clicks on a unit, and the hexes that the unit can legally move to are highlighted. The user then clicks on one of these highlighted hexes to move. Has anyone tried this approach before? It seems like it might be something the Wargame Map Object could handle, but if it can be done without it that is ok too. I just don't want to have to reinvent the wheel, and it seems that someone must have tried this before - or am I the first?

Welcomed to the forums. There is an open source example on my website that is named "Tactical Engine" that may help you.

Awesome! Thanks Marv, this looks like it will be a big help - I just need to make it work for a hex grid with different terrain modifiers but your example should point me in the right direction. Related question - is there an online reference somewhere that you know of for the details of the Wargame Map Object?

Look up "Castle Software Ltd." The fine owner, Jason Darby and author of Going To War, is also a clicker. He also made the Wargame Map Object.
