    My basic Firefly test games are ridiculously crash-prone

    This scene only has 4 primitives, 3D text, a light, and a camera, but it crashes 3 times out of 10 for me. Here's the mfa of the program in question, please run it a few times and let me know what happens: app3d.mfa

    It won't crash with Device Driver set to Standard 1 or 2, but I would much rather use Direct3D9.


    The weird thing is that I can run the example games just fine. I even took the rotating cube example and duplicated the cube 50 times and it still ran without a hitch. It's only when I make a new project that thing get weird.

    I'm not sure if it's an issue with the program or my computer. I don't know if anyone could fix this, but it would be greatly appreciated.

    You have shadows turned on. It always defaults to On.
    CT let us know before it came out that dynamic shadows were "in testing" though its a bit silly the default has it turned on.
    Simply unchecking the box will prevent it crashing. (its under the Firefly Engine object settings)

    Indeed shadows were in by default on the snapshot that got released, they work for animated mesh's but are still turned on for primitives and static's - where the code is less than stable and has yet to produce a shadow, rest assured we are working on a fix for shadows for everything.

    To solve the crashing in the engine settings where you have found the directx settings uncheck the cast shadows options near the bottom.
