    Fusion 2.5 feature list

    Hello all,

You wanted it, here it is, the "offical" Fusion 2.5 feature list.

First of all, the name has changed. It is now called "Clickteam Fusion 2.5". Bye bye "Multimedia".

What's new in Clickteam Fusion 2.5

    General

    - unique Unicode, HWA, multi-language version
    - Improved UI:
    . better docking features
. improved properties (the TAB key has been implemented, the Build and Movement combo boxes are better organized, some other improvement here and there)
. skins in event editor, event list editor and storyboard editor, you can select the skin in the preferences (Workspace tab) and create your own skins on the Skins folder of CF 2.5
. you can select a different language for the UI in the preferences (General tab) (French and Japanese are provided - not fully translated yet)
    - better compression of MFA files, especially when they contain images with alpha channels

Note 1: Clickteam Fusion 2.5 as well as the EXE it creates no longer work on Windows 9x/NT4/2000, you need Windows XP SP3 or above

Note 2: Vitalize! and Java exporters have been dropped (you can still build Java applications though if you install MMF 2.5 on a machine where 2.0 is installed and if you select "Show deprecated build types" in the properties of the application - the Java runtimes are not installed with 2.5 and have the same features as in 2.0)

    Frame editor

    - supports frames larger than 32767
    - the size and position of the selected object are displayed in the status bar
    - new Paint tool in the toolbar, that allows you to put objects to the playfield when you click without losing it (old K&P / TGF1 / C&C mode). This allows you also to paint with the object when you move the mouse without releasing the button. Press the right button to quit this mode (or unselect the tool).
    - new options in the Layers bar, to automatically hide or lock unselected layers.
    - new Extension Manager button in the Insert New Object dialog: opens an extension manager that allows you to download extensions from the server (click the Refresh button to download the list from the server).

Event editor & Event List editor

    - You can change the skin in the preferences
    - Pixel-precise scrolling
    - New Find Event / Find Object commands
    - You can enable / disable event lines
    - Hilight of the current line and column under the mouse
    - Tooltip showing the current object under the mouse on the top of the column

    Expression editor

    - List of object displayed in the editor for easy access to object's expressions
    - Popup menus accessible by left clicks as well as right clicks
    - TAB key now switches to the next non-defined parameter
    - New toolbar with new features
    - New format of the expression for a clearer (more spaces) display
    - Undo and Redo that works
    - Increase / Decrease font size
    - New Random and random range buttons
    - Real time syntax checking with red / green indicator of validity
    - New "Where?" button indicating where the syntax error is located within the expression
    - New "Format" button allowing a neater formatting of the calculation

Object dialogs (new condition, new action etc.)

    - Choice of Big icons / Small icons / List
    - Menus now can be open with left mouse key too
    - Keyboard support to select objects and open menus
    - Skinnable

    Picture editor

    - You can drop files to the picture editor
    - Better import / export features (you can now import or export sprite sheets, set the hot spot at predefined positions, crop the images, zoom in the preview)
    - You can swap the drawing colors
    - The zoom is now done at the mouse position
    - New 'G' button in the hotspot tool to set the hotspot to the center of mass of the image
    - New RGB and hexadecimal color edit boxes

    Runtime

    - new Unicode features: you can select the text format of the text files saved by the objects (Unicode, UTF8, multi-byte using the current code page)
    - 9 new Box2D movements (8 Directions, Axial, Background, Bouncing ball, Platform with extra options, Race car, Spaceship, Spring, Static) fully integrated like the old non-physical movements (that are still available) - more info in the documentation
    - 7 Box2D objects (Physics Engine, Fan, Magnet, Threadmill, Rope and Chain, Particle, Ground) that allow you to add physics to your application.
    - New Distance and Angle expressions in the system object
    - New "For each object" actions / conditions
    - New "Fire event after" and "Fire N events every M events" in timer object
    - New "Create by Name" action
    - Faster loops
    - Gesture recognition in Multiple Touch object
    - the Debugger size and position are saved and there is a new "Show Debugger" option in the system menu to reopen the debugger if it was closed.
    - The debugger now remembers the objects that were open in the last session and re-opens them automatically

Clickteam has already stated that it will be released this year, and the year is only a month or two longer, so it can't be much longer of a wait at all. I think it was supposed to be released either this or next month, though, but I don't remember for sure.
My website. If there are awards for "'highest number of long forum posts' poster of the year", then I should have probably won at least 1 by now.

Let's hope that 'Early fourth quarter' doesn't turn into "Christmas"

I don't see any mention of the layer rotate or zoom-in/out (mentioned along with the HTML5 example) feature. Is this feature gone? I hope that's not the case!

Also, why Clickteam Fusion 2.5? Is Fusion 2.5 taken? "Clickteam Fusion" sounds ACME-Corporation-ish to me.

Because there is another program called Fusion (a compositing tool) and it would conflict with an already well established brand and name. Why start a legal battle and waste money? Clickteam Fusion sounds perfectly fine by me.

    Ah, I see. That's a shame.

If anything, "CT-Fusion" would seem to suit it better, as an acronym. "Clickteam Fusion" doesn't sound impressive or memorable compared to other middleware names (Unity, Construct, Flixel, Stencyl, etc.). Anyway, it's my opinion.

Alonso Screen Zoom is extension object thus it's not on - feature list. And it was announced with HTML5 exporter, so it's irrelevant as it will be included.
    End is near.
