Rest In Peace Paul Boland

Welcome to our brand new Clickteam Community Hub! We hope you will enjoy using the new features, which we will be further expanding in the coming months.

A few features including Passport are unavailable initially whilst we monitor stability of the new platform, we hope to bring these online very soon. Small issues will crop up following the import from our old system, including some message formatting, translation accuracy and other things.

Thank you for your patience whilst we've worked on this and we look forward to more exciting community developments soon!

  • Hi everyone, its a bit hard to write this one as it's sad and unexpected.

On Thursday 14th January 2021, our klikker friend Paul Boland passed away.

For those who didn't know him, Paul was the man behind KnightTrek Productions, sharing a passion for game creation and CGI with games such as The Caretaker and Shooting Stars. A longtime game developer who I had the privilege to meet during a few Click Conventions, he was a humble and kind man. Paul was also a moderator in these forums.

    This one's a tough one.

    Rest In Peace my friend.

  • I have long considered Paul a treasured member of the community, and am sorry to hear of his death. I agree with your characterisation of him as humble and kind. He was such a great guy, and someone I'll miss. Paul was one of the people who I had the pleasure of meeting at the 2007 Click Convention (finally having a chance to interact in person with the man who I knew from the Clickteam Forums). Outside that, I felt like I got to know him from his Convention Reports and his record of having visited the set of Knightmare. I admired his passion and ability and willingness to share it.

  • Very sad news.. Met the guy a number of times at the click convention and he was great, his passion for making games was amazing. In fact myself and my son were just talking about the Caretaker game and whether he was going to remake it again the other day.

  • I'm so very sad to hear this.

Paul was one of the first persons I had the pleasure to run into at the the earliest Click Convention I attended.

He was a long time member of the community, this forum and a tireless creator of games.
Besides ChrisStreet, Paul was one of the community members to have attended the most conventions, and his gentle nature will surely be missed.

  • It's a really sad news... :( I didn't meet him in person, but for a long time I read his posts here.

    Rest in peace, Paul.

  • Really sorry to hear that, I never talked to Paul, but it's still sad to lose someone sharing the same passion on the same place.
Rest in Peace, and all my thoughts for his family.

  • I'll miss him. Without Paul, the first convention wouldn't have happened. The idea began because we wanted to meet this guy who produced such amazing games! When Francois said he was going to come too, that was an added bonus :D

  • Very, very sad news indeed. This is a terrible start to 2021. Knight Trek will forever be with us!

  • OK, I've shed some tears and slept on it, so here's a better send off:

Paul inspired thousands of gamers worldwide with his open hearted, infectious enthusiasm and his technical brilliance. A truly lovely man, who will leave a huge hole in our hearts. He just was. His posts on the forum brought peace and a welcome to everyone. Not just useful information and great examples, but a compelling invitation to join in and belong.
