Wow,..how is this done?

Welcome to our brand new Clickteam Community Hub! We hope you will enjoy using the new features, which we will be further expanding in the coming months.

A few features including Passport are unavailable initially whilst we monitor stability of the new platform, we hope to bring these online very soon. Small issues will crop up following the import from our old system, including some message formatting, translation accuracy and other things.

Thank you for your patience whilst we've worked on this and we look forward to more exciting community developments soon!

  • To be fair and without sounding patronising I think you should look at the code a little bit harder.

It isn't THAT hard once you study how everything is done, that's the learning curve of MMF2. 5-6 years ago and even 10 years ago we had hardly any examples/open source and hardly even an online community to further our projects. The fact you have something like that space explosion as an open-source example should be something that is not looked at lightly.

You have the source for something unique like this, go study it and learn from it! That way you can further your own developments within MMF2.

I don't know many things about effects, this was one D:

Some solutions are incredible... Very simple but the result sounds complex.

  • You're welcome Ls2. Their are quite a few effects you can achieve with Flash and some of the other exporters but you have to remember with any exporter where you don't have a user with a PC to burn so you have to optimise your games accordingly, however I have used the semi-transparency in multiple flash games and hasn't affected frame rate.

  • I also noticed that the frame rate goes way down when you create one of the explosions. IMO,.there is to many loops happening or something is wrong with the code or my PC is to slow,.but I don't think that's the case. I do have an older PC,.but its a 2.1ghz with 2 gigs of ram and should do fine with this example. I noticed that when I run his example the frame rate drops to around 26 and I haven't even created an explosion yet!! When I create an explosion,.the rate drops to 8. Anyone else having an issue with slow down?

LOL,..I got you! After looking at it for a while, I do understand it and what does what now. At first I was like what??? LMAO.

  • its buttery smooth for me but i am running a beef'ed up pc (8gig ram/560gtx/i7 4.5ghz) but i do remember trying this out on my last pc and that was half the specs of this and didnt see frame loss... thats the thing about pcs being so differnt :-\ what works for my pc might have compatability issues with yours :-\

i love the fact that people show there stuff, i save em and then go through them with a fine tooth comb looking for information and how people made things! from the ios examples on a multitouch system that i then made my own... just from learning how one person makes something gives you the insite on how to make your own - its actually the reason why i went with buying MMF2 over other engines out there.

  • lol good; I didn't want to come across like a gimp just want people to learn especially when open-source stuff is so hard to come by, this is a god send!

With relation to your frame rate on my netbook running an Intel 4500 I get 60 fps, what graphics card have you got? Have you setup your DX settings correctly? The default settings can override most processing done by the GPU.

Don't mean to sound like an idiot,.but what is DX? I'm running the standard card that is on the mother board. It's a ATI Radeon 200 series. I'm sure that's not good...LOL

  • Not good at all. DX = DirectX. Even though you can change graphic configurations via settings/config, most default graphic drivers will override those settings hardware style, you can adjust them in your graphics card control panel. Not sure whether the integrated 200 comes with Catalyst, if it does, open Catalyst up and crank all the settings to performance and turn off any AA & AS.

If anyone wants to do shader/effect (HLSL) development there is a forum here - Please login to see this link.

There is some effects there but also the Released Shaders here - Please login to see this link.

Well,.I went and installed another card. A Radeon 9250 and there is no difference when I run the example file. Rate drops to 8 when an explosion takes place. So,.I have no idea why this is happening.
