Rising Legends - Beat'em Up / Hack 'n Slash

Welcome to our brand new Clickteam Community Hub! We hope you will enjoy using the new features, which we will be further expanding in the coming months.

A few features including Passport are unavailable initially whilst we monitor stability of the new platform, we hope to bring these online very soon. Small issues will crop up following the import from our old system, including some message formatting, translation accuracy and other things.

Thank you for your patience whilst we've worked on this and we look forward to more exciting community developments soon!

  • Hello everyone!

I would like to share with everyone here that I am currently developing an Action Beat'em Up game (or Hack 'n Slash since you are wielding a blade).
The game is still early in development but I would like to share a tech demo to show what I have got so far.
It's my very first digital game and I am pretty excited about what I have achieved.

    Tech Demo:

Rising Legends will feature a total amount of 8 stages, a Story Mode and an Arcade Mode.

Right now the base gameplay mechanics are functioning (player movement, basic enemy AI, scrolling etc etc).
Most of the assets of all the 8 levels are finished, just got to make things look pretty and all.
Got a lot of new mechanics to implement, aswell as new enemies, bosses.. you name it.

All the gameplay mechanics, character designs and story are all designed by yours truly, it's really lot of work..

I am really serious about it and I got a lot of things planned, even things I have never seen in a game like this before, so stay tuned!

Quick shoutout to those who are helping me living my dream:

  • I was having some nostalgic memories of the fun I used to have playing Streets of Rage with my brother on the Sega megadrive the other day. This game reminds me of that and looks like it could be great fun too!

SUPER MEGA BEST CAT ADVENTURES Please login to see this link. and Please login to see this link. live now!

  • Robeez this game looks very nice! it kind of reminds me of streets of rage atmosphere with a little bit of sword play from dungeons and dragons shadows over mystery. Can't wait to see the final product! Good stuff.

  • After some fooling around I noticed my game looks a lot more exciting with some changes in brightness and contrast.

    Without brightness/contrast:

So my question is: is there a tool available that let's you edit brightness/contrast on a global scale?
I found a tool that edits individual files, but I would have to edit every single object.

If there is, please let me know where I can find it!
If not, well.. let the coffee machine start running.

  • I don't know of any such tool, however one easy way is two put a semi transparent layer with the ink effect you want, and experiment from there. Maybe shaders can do what you are asking for? BTW good job on the sprites.

  • Thanks for your comment.
I asked around and the normal version is praised a lot more than the edited one. So I will keep it as normal.

    Here's some updates:
Note: this video uses non-original sounds as fillers which I used for testing and to set the mood.
They will be replaced eventually when I get to it. For this reason this video is listed as private, so please refrain from massive sharing.

Music is unique for the game.

    + Implemented a point system.
    - Succesful hits and blocks add up points, the bigger the combo, the more points you earn.
    - Taking a hit will cash in your points but you won't be rewarded with the combo bonus.

    + Multiple Barrel mechanics:
    - Kick/slide to use it offensively
    - Slash to look for items (Health in this case)

+ Every enemy type has a unique AI.

    Coming soon:
    - Bigger move-set for the playable character.
    - Stage Boss.

  • Sure thing, I will get to it once I have my first trailer ready.

Also, what is meant with ''Date release game''?
I am not sure when my game is exactly finished.

  • Thanks for the comment guys!

SHINBAXTER - yep, I am keeping the game without the contrast effects. Thanks for the feedback as well, I appreciate it!

    Also, a brief history.
About 1 year ago I got Clickteam Fusion for the first time and I immediately started experimenting with the possibilities.
I tried to become familiar with the program and I managed to figure out some things easily.
In the beginning I took some sprites/models of the internet to see how things would work out.

This is what I managed to do in after a few days:
Please login to see this link.

Things looked pretty good as I managed to add in various collision effects.
The next step was to create individual AI.

After a couple of days of experimenting I worked in some very basic AI:

Again, things were going very well.
At that point I thought to myself: "this is it, I want to do what I've always wanted to do".
From here on I took careful steps to plan what I want to do.
Some of the characters that will be featured are already ones I originally came up with, and I want to flesh it out more.
This is where Rising Legends started.

Some time later I got my original models, and I couldn't be happier:

Well, you've seen what the game looks like after that.
But soon I will show you what the state of the game is these days, stay tuned! :)

  • Heya, I hope everyone had a great Christmas!

I would like to share a Developer's update with you guys.

    What changed?
Lately I have been doing a lot of reprogramming.
This allows me to play a lot more with variables, this includes working better with knockback distances, slide durations etc etc.
By doing so I am able to introduce a lot more interactable objects to play around with.
And with that the Player is also able to select which character he or she would like to play.
On top of that this also means that 2-Player Mode is in the works as we speak!

Please login to see this attachment.

    Any new enemies?
Yes! New enemies have been added into the game, including bosses.
Although a lot of polishing and balancing has to be done, although I can share a little tease on a more advanced enemy.

Please login to see this attachment.

This is the Shocktrooper, an enemy currently in developement.
Story-wise it is a type of Special Forces character from the Yakuza.

When it appears on the field it will often come from above or surprise you by jumping in from a window.
From time to time it will throw a Smoke Grenade.
The Smoke Grenade will create a smokescreen, the smokescreen will hinder your view and you may want to reconsider your positioning.
When behind the smokescreen the Shocktrooper sees it's opportunity and becomes more aggressive.
It will become difficult to see when and where he will strike.
What do I mean with where? Well, in Rising Legends enemies will have a high attack and/or low attack.
In this particular situation the Shocktrooper has stab attack when he's standing up and a low stab attack when he is down low.
But don't worry, there are multiple ways for the player to think and deal about the situation.

Thanks for reading, let me know what you think!
