There is a method (I haven't done myself) where you bundle you 3d assets up in a compressed file, and send a password in Fusion to open. Let me see if I can get the details.

Firefly - 3d in Fusion, Just released!
Welcome to our brand new Clickteam Community Hub! We hope you will enjoy using the new features, which we will be further expanding in the coming months.
A few features including Passport are unavailable initially whilst we monitor stability of the new platform, we hope to bring these online very soon. Small issues will crop up following the import from our old system, including some message formatting, translation accuracy and other things.
Thank you for your patience whilst we've worked on this and we look forward to more exciting community developments soon!

Folks had asked about poly count, in the recent gif I posted, Triadian passed on to me this image...

Does Firefly have basic primitives we can use (plane, cube, etc) or do all meshes need to be imported?
-
Plane Cube Arrow Tube Sphere Cone Cylinder - possibly more in the future
-
Any specific Primitive you are looking for Mobichan?
-
I am probably going to tinker with this plugin soon, but don't have the time to really model anything right now. So I was just hoping there were primitives built in to mess around with.
Honestly, most primitives in modelling packages are actually terrible when exported because their vert orders are usually unoptimized for rendering. It might just be my 2005 self speaking here, but I was pretty anal about mesh modelling back in the day. It might not be so important these days, but my assumption with Firefly is that any optimizations are going to help squeeze out every ounce of performance.
If I would add one to that list, I would say a torus is handy. At least the droves of Sonic fandevs will appreciate them.

Yes, I think that is a must have. Multiple people have suggested it.
-
Well done, Clickteam, on taking a first step into 3D. I wish you the best with it and will be keeping an eye on developments.

So I'm working through the chocobreak tutorial and I've noticed that when running the application, after going tso far to the sides, it darkens a bit as well as random start ups( the application starts off darker than it should be). I'm not sure if I messed up somewhere or its a bug or what. Also, I can't run the application randomly. Otherwise, I'm loving Firefly. It's def finally different and easier than Android Studio and RobotC, which is where I started with programming.
-
the darkness bug is caused by the cast shadows option on the engine properties - just turn it off to solve all darkness issues

This is an awesome job! I might buy it for Xmas.
I've read pretty harsh comment on this topic. Obviously, no one should compare Firefly with Unity or Unreal for a simple reason: they're both pretty harsh to use for a beginner.According to me, the most important feature of a 3d engine for mmf is not it's number of polygons or shaders, it's the easiness to use. If clickteam can make a 3d frame editor, as easy to use as the traditional 2d frame editor, it will be a big hit for me (and many other users I assume), even it the engine is as powerful as a ps2 !
That being said, I do have a more practical question :
if I want to buy it, since Clickteam's staff is gonna make a lot of updates, is it better to buy the version of the clickstore ? Because I do remember the steam version of fusion had a some delays with the updates... -
I know this has been asked before, but is there any plans on having a stripped down version or maybe a version that wont let you build with for a demo? The Chocobreak demo is great, but before i drop 80 bucks on it i want to see what i can do with it. This is definitely something i'd have no hesitation in buying if it can be controlled as easily as events are in the editor, but the reason i am asking is because if that is something that will be added at a later date i'll most likely hold off until then. And great work btw guys!!!
im VERY excited about this!!
EDIT: or possibly a generic video tutorial walking us through a simple platformer, just so we can see what the coding consists of? Like camera position, angle, etc.

the chocobreak tutorial explains how the game was made just using the event editor, im confused as to what you cant see when following the tutorial ? the camera position angle etc is all explained in the chocobreak tutorial.

Sorry dude my bad, so, there is an actual mfa file? The only file i saw was the actual exe showcasing the game.
EDIT: and now....i feel like a noob lol. Sorry fellas, didn't see the step by step  maybe when my wife gets back i get to ask for this for my xmas gift in the next few mins lol. Thanks again and i look forward to testing this out!! Keep up the good work!

glad you found it - the MFA wouldn't do you any good as without Firefly it wont load...
-
I've skimmed through this thread and couldn't really find anything on this. Can you create/animate models in Firefly? Or do you have to use a different tool then import them? And what animation software would you recommend?
-
Firefly is a 3D engine which renders your models and things alike and makes them move. For actual creation you will have to make and animate your models in another program. A free one you can use is called Blender.
-
Thank you! It's been years since I've done any 3D modeling, I actually have a reason to get back into it again.
-
it depends really on what your modelling and animating for example the latest video
Please login to see this media element.
the door closing animation is entirely event driven, firefly gives you balls, boxes, tubes, cones and arrows which if used imaginatively could create a game without using any external models. -
