Hey! Just doing an annual checkup to see how MMF3 is progressing (been waiting about 6 years for it).
I can't find any stickied or news topics about it yet (aside from a requests thread), is it still years off? Or have they given up on the thought?
The Clickteam bit sounds silly, so I'd just call it MMF2.5 since it's still basically MMF2 and people I talk to know what that is.
If MMF3 ever comes out I'll probably call that F3 or MMF3.
CTF sounds like capture the flag.
These are notes I took from Please login to see this link.
MMF2.5 (beta/sale in Q4 2013)
- Standard + HWA + Uniconde all merged into one, with free limited HTML5 runtime, better UI, and reduced MFA size.
- Can open MMF2 projects (backwards compatible)
- Cheap upgrade for existing MMF2 owners
- Individual Exporter settings
- Extensions from MMF2 will work with MMF2.5
- Steam exensions (for MMF2 as well)
- Added an auto-hide setting for the layer toolbar.
- Can reskin the event editor
- Can place pictures directly into the Picture Editor
- Event editor: can search/filter events, conditions, and actions, comments etc.
- When inserting object: can search for it by name, description, conditions or actions.
- Event editor: Based on mouse position it will highlight rows/columns.
- Better syntax: object.function(params)
- New actions.
- Distance, angle, range, random range, expressions.
- For each in timer conditions.
- Screen zoom in all runtimes.
- Gesture recogniction for multitouch (you prerecord them first)
- Box2D physics built into MMF: 9 movmeents, 7 new objects. (hotspot being center of mass)
- Classic movements have been updated to work with the new physics system (ball, platform, racing etc.)
- New particles object, and physics objects
- "Clickstore" built in: can sell objects, examples, tutorials, libraries or click games. (70% of money goes to you, 30% to clickteam). There is a clickstore currency called "ClickCoins".
- More keyboard shortcuts.
Fusion 3 (new name for MMF3)
- Works on Windows, Mac, Linux, Tablets from the start.
- Not backwards compatible (can't open files from MMF2 etc.)
- 3 editions: Free, Standard, Developer.
- "perfect and powerful"
- "F3 will remove MMF virtual machine.
- C++ for Mac, Windows, iOS, Flash, Anroid. JavaScript Runtime for HTML5. No XNA/Java/PS Vita/PS
- No Xbone/PS4 support, maybe later.
- compile events to native source code with usage of CTLib.
- "Easy multiplatform extensions thanks to new background."
- "clickstore" built in.
- No 3D, focus is on 2D (though someone could make 3D extensions for it).
- Multiplayer: Integrated and very simple.
- Faster runtime and shader stacking
- Parenting system and improvements to global events
- Team support not done but is on to-do list.
BUG: making a counter object global does not update counter images across all frames.
a high-quality release would be at least 10x better than a buggy 2013 release.
Ok, well a 2013 release of at least a screenshot (lol) would be fantastic, if they're not releasing it in any shape this year. I'd just like to see some evidence after waiting so many years.
A 2013 release.
Looking forward to when these become more common!
It doesn't crash for me, but it loads a black object instead of the green tick in the main frame.

I don't want it to be backwards compatible. If it is we'll get a weaker program, burdened by the past (I'm guessing nifflas explained that.)
If for some reason they do go ahead with the compatibility, then I hope it's just a conversion thing (hopefully not done by the person making MMF3, so as to not waste their time.)
Is there any news on MMF3 progress? I haven't seen it talked about much, or is it still that thing in the future that might happen one day. Although I guess it makes sense to not talk about it when you're doing everything possible to prolong the life of MMF2.
Ya, just couldn't see an option to delete thread.
Doesn't matter, use Surface instead.
I'm trying to paste Actives onto an Overlay Redux, but it's not pasting their scale/angle? Is this intended?
This has been a problem for me for many years too. Basically a problem in many games that are top-down etc.
Konidias, that's okay for some games but for many games do require an always sort by Y (imagine in a 3D game if things were only properly ordered occasionaly, it's just as absurd for some 2D games).
I haven't played a huge amount of Xbox games, but I thought most games were done at 720p or less -- so that there is better performance.
Yeah I've gotten that too, from Avast. Malicious site!
