Build 293.1 - Release version

Right, so I believe this affects any extensions that use the same exact file selector File object uses. I've tried with File, Array, Edit Box, Common Dialog object, Rich Edit Object, all these are affected, probably a lot more, but for example, Picture or Active Picture are not affected cause they use a slightly different selector (custom?).
It's fairly straight forward, open the selector, don't even need to select a file, you can just cancel, after that edrt.exe will not close even if you click the X, it hides the window but keep running in the background, making Fusion unable to Run and Steam unable to reopen Fusion if it's closed (usually forced cause it will think Fusion is still running despite having Fusion itself closed), Steam will just say Fusion is still running and refuse to open it just because of edrt.exe running in the background.

Actually, I'm doing some tests here... I'm not even sure if this is a Fusion issue (I'm using Windows 10 Insider), it seems like actually any software after opening that standard file selector dialog once will not finish the process once closed D: (Notepad for example, tried on it and did the same, open a file selector once and it will not end the process after closing it)
I'll report this to Microsoft, I guess there's not much Fusion could do about it, UNLESS the Run button could also kill the runtime process before trying to execute it again, as a fail-safe feature...
But I've seen other users having this problem as well, I guess it must be a change on Windows or something if this do not happen on non-Insider Windows 10 versions...

I think you should take my suggestion and make the run button kill the runtime process (edrt.exe and the others) before launching it so the error never happens again... Since closing the application will reenable the Run button despite the process is still running in the background.
Cause if Microsoft don't fix this, soon they will merge Windows 10 Insider with the stable release, meaning this issue will affect all users...

Killing the runtimes processes when closing Fusion would also be a good idea...

The weakness of CF2.5, is that cannot select the opponent object when the same object collides with it.

I have a suggestion for mobile
I was thinking here, I think it would be nice if JPEG Image compression could make use of a JPEG alpha channel texture (generated during building) and use that so it wouldn't lose transparency and still have a nice reduction in size...
It could be a separated option, "JPEG with Alpha Channel", got me thinking of this since mobile is very limited in resources and there was this guy on the Discord server that has this massive almost 2gb high res game, I think this option would massively reduce the file size without the drawback of having no transparency...

Ah, noticed there's a small bug on Hi-Score object, "Ask for a player's name" does nothing on HTML5... (At least on Free version, possibly on any version tho)

This example shows physics collisions not working correctly at all for some reason

The physics in general don't work very good after the ( Optimizations in collision detection ) feature in some 2020 Fusion update

Hope this will be fixed in soon :)

Ah, yeah you are correct, sorry didn't focus on that too much and thought it's a bug xD

@Linky but better do it like; A collides with B - stop A and stop B, because otherwise it will give problem with duplicates, will only work on the first object and all dublictes will ignore collision for whatever reasen. Also never use backdrop object or physics ground object because the object scoping is not working correct with them, use only actives for everything physics related.

Not sure if this was reported before or anything but I got a crash when loading a text from list when frame has a transition and the list is not ticked "create before frame transition".
The workaround is simple just tick the "create before frame transition". for the List object.

@Yves, I don't know if this helps or whether it's relevant, but I occasionally get sharing violation errors with edrt.exe when I Run Application too soon after just having run it. You could try and recreate this by repeatedly running/quitting/running/quitting an MFA. It might help to add an event that ends the application upon pressing F8, so you can just repeatedly press F8. You could try it with the MFA I sent you recently since the problem has been known (by me) to happen on that MFA. It has F9 mapped to end application already.

Yves, I'm having a super weird issue with a mfa... It says it's incompatible with Standard and Free (parhaps even Dev) version, I didn't used anything fancy, for free version I thought it could be the behavior since I'm not sure if this is available on Free...
But still pretty weird that it doesn't work on Standard, I swear I didn't touched any Plus features and there's no way I used Dev features also... Could you please check what's causing it?
This is worrying since I do a lot of examples, some even paid :(

I know I asked about adding a built-in DeltaTime function before, the setup through events is fairly simple, but it would be really interesting to get this natively. I use a ratio to control time speed, for some reason 12 seems to be the default.

But that's not why I'm posting this... I was wondering it it could be added an action to set the "Movement timer base" thing, a way to retrieve it through extensions would be nice as well.
I guess it wouldn't be too hard to add... ? Cause when I control time, these built-in movements, and specially, animations, follows "Movement timer base" update rate, makes it looks like moon gravity instead of slowmotion...
It also seems like Pinball movement is not hooked to "Movement timer base"

In my project, when I filter event with "group good" it seem to don't show me all the related lines. I notice that the missing lines are in child events.
I place two screenshot to show the problem. As you can see on it, line 228 should appear in filtered view but it didn't.

So The pencil tool in the Frame Editor could be much more useful if it was working correctly

For example:
if I Undo / Redo my changes in the Frame editor the object I selected simply deselects it self automatically, that isn't good as I Undo & Redo a lot in that Editor and every time I do that I have to select the object again

Another thing:
If I scroll with ( MMB + Mouse move ) or ( Space + Mouse Move ) there is a weird bug that happens:

1) it deselects the selected object
2) it makes scrolling even happen just by moving the cursor around even if not holding ( Space / MMB )

I think that is a problem that happens on all builds, not just this build

So i hope it gets fixed in feature update :)

It's because you use a qualifier in the behavior of the Freeze Time [Widget] object. Qualifiers in global events and behaviors are supported only in 2.5+

Yes it was reported but I've no MFA in which this happens and I can't reproduce it at all from scratch. Could you post a MFA here or send one to me by PM please?

This is exactly why "Create before frame transition" was added (because iirc fixing the crash automatically was either not possible or source of performance issues or I don't remember what).

Thanks for the reply! I thought this only happened to Qualifiers on Global Event editor, I'll keep this in mind in case anyone get into a similar situation.

I have a similar thing with 'find all'. It lists ghost events that does not exist anymore.

Save/Load Frame Position Event Groups Bug:


The save/load frame position action seems to have a bug where the activation state of event groups is not properly saved or loaded. Groups that have been activated or deactivated during runtime before saving the frame position may be difficult or impossible to toggle after loading the frame position.

I have attached an example file below. To reproduce, run the mfa and click on the G2, G3, and G3a buttons, in that order. Only the G1 button should remain green. Press Enter to save the file. Now either press Backspace to load the file, or first restart the frame from the debugger and then press Backspace to load the file. Everything should appear to have loaded properly, but now try clicking on the G2, G3, and G3a buttons again. If you experience the bug, clicking on those 3 buttons after loading will not toggle them anymore. Buttons G1 and G1a should still work. Pressing the keyboard bindings to toggle the buttons at this point might work slightly better than clicking on the buttons, but will be glitchy and not work as expected.

This bug happens on build 292.26 and does not seem to cause crashing. I do not know if this bug as described occurs on 293.1.

I understand there is already a known bug in the latest version where the application can crash when loading frame position, but I thought this might be a separate or related issue.

Please test with this version of the mfa instead. The version in my post above had a silly mistake where the keyboard bindings weren't programmed correctly.

After loading the frame, the keyboard bindings will stop functioning in the same way as with clicking on the buttons.

This problem is fixed in the next update, it was reported recently.

Hmm it would be nice if we could get a list or something of all features and bug fixes that are being worked on for the next update so people wouldn't keep asking for the same thing...

Event Line Limit(?) Bug:


I seemed to have reached Fusion's Frame cap for Event Lines. When adding new lines beyond that point the Line Number wraps around back around to line 0 or something close to zero. This causes some funky things to occur. For example, pasting multiple lines will cause all new lines to share the same Event Line # and highlighting one of them will force all of them to become highlighted. The only workaround for this at the moment is to either, Save>Close> and re-open the mfa file, or to simply delete Event Lines elsewhere in that Frame's Event List. I don't know how many will run into this bug, but Phi said I should post about it so here I am ��

Ultimately this isn't much of a problem for me since I'm rewriting my game, but I managed to run into it a week before I started this process.

How many lines do you have in your frame? (or in global events if you're editing global events) The maximum number of lines the event editor can display is 30,000.

Well if I perform the Advanced Find Function to look up the last line in the frame it returns line #65526, but when displayed in fusion's editor it reads as line #4,294,967,286.

65500 lines? Wow. IIRC I had never seen a game with more than 30,000 lines yet. I'll take a look.

Update: the display issue is fixed, however there is a hard-coded limit to 65535 events that is difficult to remove as it involves either a MFA format change, or complex workarounds. I suggest that you either optimize your events or move a part of them to global events or objects behaviors.

But yea, I'm well ahead of you on the optimization part. Phi suggested that perhaps Fusion should warn or prevent you from adding Events once you reach that 65535 limit as it's still possible to insert Event Lines past that point, it's just not ideal lol

Someone brought my attention to a strange problem related to how built-in input works, cause it seems like the simple act of adding SDL Joystick object on the frame can cause the built-in keyboard input to get delayed after a few quick key presses...
Phi said SDL can't be moved to another thread so he can't fix it on the extension...
But the weirdest part (and what got me wondering if this could be fixed Fusion-side) is that somehow, the keyboard input delay only seems to happen with Debugger either disabled (also built as exe) or closed, but it doesn't seem to happen with Debugger open!
It seems to not be affected by the tree listview, closing all folders changes nothing, but closing or disabling the debugger itself and the issue starts to happen...

Got me thinking if Fusion handles the built-in keyboard presses differently when Debugger is open, perhaps in another thread to be able to display something on debugger (?), so when you close it runs on the main thread, causing the two to conflict somehow...
I'm probably wrong in this theory, but something on the Debugger itself changes this behavior... At first I thought it was because a drop in FPS or something but it doesn't seem to be the reason.

I'm using Phi's version of SDL Joystick object, this probably also happens with the original one, you can find Phi's version at Dark-Wire or his Github.
Here's the mfa to replicate the issue, cause I think some other objects may cause a similar problem.

Edit: Phi looked at it and the only possible delay is Handle() or GetDebugTree(), and the second shouldn't happen if the debugger is gone... Could be the point where the issue starts.

Following on from the above...Yves, it would be really great if we could get a Clickteam-made gamepad that works out of the box. We have to jump through many hoops just to get gamepads working properly using the various outdated and/or community-made extensions. And as the previous post suggests, the difficulties don't seem like they're going away any time soon.

It's a thing about current Fusion 2.5 runtime, Clickteam making a new extension like this is too much effort sadly :(
They will definitely improve this in Fusion 3 as one of F3 blogs mentioned about

But F3 is long way away...

Actually we started making one recently, based on how it works in F3, but it got stopped for various reasons. If possible we'll complete it at some point, but it depends on our schedule for F3.

Done. In the meantime I've also removed the 30,000 displayed events limitation, the event editor can now display up to 65535 lines.
