Did the lens object stop working on newer versions or something?

I created a new application, inserted a Lens object and a background, ran the frame, and the lens effect didn't show up.

I copied and pasted that frame into an older application that already had lenses, ran the frame, and the lens effect worked fine.

What's going on here?

There is a new version of the Lens fx, rebuilt for DX 11.

If you have the old one, switch your app mode to DX 9 and see if it works.

Found the link in the shaders, 'PixelThief' converted some existing shaders including lensfx:

The Lens object doesn't work in Direct3D mode, in only works in standard display mode. In Direct3D mode you have to use the Lens effect mentioned by arsdigita.
